Not sure about “only,” but yeah. That’s about 3 or 4 street spaces right there. Meter fees would be a bitch. I might just live in it.

It should be about 258 inches overall, fairly long, but not that crazy, my old Cadillac was 225, and that was just a regular 4-door sedan. I bet one of these would be easier to handle than a modern box body, truck-based ambulance.

That camper is possibly the highest quality thing they built on Top Gear. It actually looked nice! With some minor modifications it might have only been bad in the wind rather than a disaster.

Tissier! German company CX-Basis still converts your CX Brèak to a more normal and better looking 6-wheeled Loadrunner . These are awesome!

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
03/11/2016 at 00:45

Kinja'd!!!2

Those Loadrunners are really sweet. Like something out of a sci-fi movie. The Tissier monstrosities are much more outrageous and much less elegant. But, pretty damn epic. I think my favorite is the Roland Garros.

Kinja'd!!!

I’m not even sure what the purpose of it is. The ambulance would be a really cool food truck. They make them out of old HY vans all the time. This is the next evolution.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee

Kinja'd!!!1

The loadrunners are soooo good looking. The purpose of the RG is just hauling many many people. These seat 14 pax. FOURTEEN!!! I don’t see a food truck in it, still only hobgoblins will be able to stand upright in these?

Kinja'd!!!2

Yeah, I guess we did get American versions of those for shuttling people to the airport.

Kinja'd!!!

You don’t think people can stand up in the ambulance? It looks pretty high. You could easily raise that roof if you needed to.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
03/12/2016 at 01:59

Kinja'd!!!1

8 doors, haha, everything is bigger in the US, even six door wagons. Needs more wheels though ;-)

I think you’d still need a higher roof, the normal CX is just that low.

Kinja'd!!!

Although that Ambulance might be even somewhat higher than this picture.

03/12/2016 at 02:12

Kinja'd!!!1

You’re right. Here you go.

Kinja'd!!!

They built a few of those apparently. That’s a Toronado, so it’s FWD like the Citroën.

The ambulance does look a little higher than that one. And she is standing on the curb, so that gives her a few inches.

Kinja'd!!!

I don’t think a basketball player could fit, but a short chef could squeeze in. That’s from this funky video one of your countrymen posted.

Artrice posted some new concepts today.

03/12/2016 at 03:34

Kinja'd!!!1

Haha, that one probably out-lenghts a freakin’ greyhound bus! Using a FWD platform definitely easy’s up things when reconstructing.

I’ll allow the height argument but have to decline the curb-one. She would not be on tarmac-level when inside the CX either, will she? A French Louis de Funesque-person would be able to make you some diner alright. The weight definitely took his toll on the mechanics though, I quote the owner of the paper-CX’s:

We usually changed engines every 3 months - the 2.5 liter’s used to break the crankshafts between # 3 and 4

Hahaha...

Awesome as they are: I’m not sure Artrice’s “new” additions would be homologated due to safety-issues: Feet in front of the front axle usually is a no-go!

Kinja'd!!!0

Did you see this on the front page? I guess Jason isn’t the only one monitoring us.

Wow. It doesn’t even look like it should be that much more weight since all that body work is plastic. But I guess the extra axle and lengthened frame and whatever equipment is in there adds up.

Yeah, that top one looks like it’s only for the track. It’s got those high mirrors, which is nice. The little mid-engined Minotaur might be his best work. I really love the environments he puts them in. I don’t know why that car is in what looks like the basement of a shopping mall. I asked him why there’s a dying goldfish in the picture and he told me that a friend of his called that design a “fish out of water” since it didn’t look like anything else around at the time. This is a weird way to use that cliché that I don’t quite understand.

03/14/2016 at 06:51

Kinja'd!!!1

I’m sure Maté and Jason talk a lot to each other. It was inevitable. GOOD PIECE MATÉ!

Extra Axle, Extra drag, extra weight due to the fact they were hauling vast amounts of paper, extra wear due to excessive speeds (these were flying to get there in time)... Add some French engineering: I’m not that surprised ;-)

Wait a minute, you actually know this god-like creature? Hire him for the Wanke r l, no matter what costs!

Kinja'd!!!1

Good point. Those poor little engines were never meant to be workhorses. God bless them for holding out for 3 whole months.

I only know him through Facebook. He posts those to a concept cars group and now we’re Facebook friends because I always comment on his pictures. I think he’s perfect for the Wanke r l. I don’t know if we should get specific with the design specs, or just tell him it has 4 Wankels and a wing and let him go crazy.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
03/15/2016 at 07:04

Kinja'd!!!1

They’d probably get some big overhaul and were mounted back in again 3 months later. Can’t imagine those being just thrown away.

Raw high performance exhileration that can only be felt while the asphalt is blurring under your tires. This is the premise in this design exercise.

He should do all our marketing. And maybe we’d better have him design our top-model and let proper engineers do our cashcows. We don’t want to end up like Citroën after their Wankel claims got ‘m in trouble.

Kinja'd!!! Jonee > Jobjoris
03/16/2016 at 03:38

Kinja'd!!!1

Yeah, I wonder how many times they got reused. I guess that’s not unusual for government vehicles. Except for the 3 months part.

He has a way with words that rivals his talent with colored pencils. He just needs to learn how to spell “exhilaration.” We shouldn’t put all our eggs in the quad-Wankel basket? I fear the engineering costs on that car alone will equal several other car companies’ total budgets combined. Which should be fine since fitting the Karenjy for export shouldn’t require much engineering.

Kinja'd!!! Jobjoris > Jonee
03/16/2016 at 05:04

Kinja'd!!!1

The owner wasn’t governmental, it was a private service doing transport for papers IIRC. But still.

I love that last sentence of ‘m. At least he confesses it’s just a design exercise. Didn’t you do your math? 4 Wankels + 1 Artrice = Profit!

I’ll send some feelers out to Mr. Woodard and see what he says. We’re going to need an ironclad contract with a good non-disclosure clause. I don’t want any of the big companies stealing either our idea, or Artrice.

Maybe we should make something like Alcatraz our HQ. You can apply anytime you like but you can never leave. Shouldn’t we start by starting an Artrice-fan-club to appease him somewhat?

I think Jobjeisen definitely needs its own secret island base. And an army of indentured Belgian midgets to work the assembly lines as well as make chocolate.

A Fan Club is a good idea. I was thinking of asking him if he’d do an interview for an Oppo post. I think folks would be kind for the most part. He seems like an interesting guy and I don’t get the impression he takes himself too seriously with the car designs. Most of them are from like 20+ years ago.

Thunderbirds kind of creeped me out as a kid. But, I can appreciate it now. Although I do still find it a little creepy. Recently I got a little into Supercar . I always loved Gerry Anderson’s live actions shows; Space: 1999 , and UFO .

The midgets are the minions. Like Oompa-Loompas, but from Belgium.

There should be a gallery exhibit of his work. I think it goes beyond simple automobile concepts.

Really? I always loved the thunderbirds. Lady Penelope with her six-wheeler, that island... I actually wanted to live there! I really don’t know any other work of Gerry, Supercar really needs to be shown in the moneypit.

You’re one of his closest friends now. Just tell him we’ll have an exhibition of his work in Breda soon!

I don’t know why I didn’t like it. I can remember it coming on and always changing the channel. I didn’t like those dolls for some reason. It was some pretty amazing model making, though. Supercar was before Thunderbirds . And it was more a rocketship than car.

Kinja'd!!!

Space: 1999 was one of my favorite shows ever. It’s a really weird and interesting sci-fi show. Kind of an even groovier Star Trek . But, UFO had the coolest theme music and costumes:

An Artrice gallery opening might be a good way to officially Christen the Moneypit.

You didn’t like the dolls? That doll of Supercar doesn’t look that different?

I don’t know any of these. That leader of UFO is awesome. Because why wouldn’t you want to launch some sort of airplane/rocket interceptor from UNDER THE WATER? And that car at 0:18 is extremely Artrice !

As a kid I didn’t like the dolls. I can appreciate them now. I only recently started watching Supercar . There’s this weird station that shows it.

Well, you have to hide your rocket ship somewhere. No one’s going to look for it under the ocean. That’s Commander Straker’s car. It looks like a melted AMC Matador Coupe. Totally like something Artrice would draw. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was a fan of that show. My favorite were the alien girls with the purple hair. And the mesh shirts.

I always loved that Island of the Thunderbirds. And those cool cars, planes, rockets and boats they used. There’s this great Tomica Thunderbirds Set that’s been hunting me. I should probably just get it.

Kinja'd!!!

And of course Josje has Lady Penelope’s six-wheeler Rolls from MBX.

Just ask Artrice? You’re in contact with the guy. You need to post more of ‘m on Oppo. Spread the word!

There’s quite the story to the UFO/Doppelgänger car, too bad pictures are missing in this thread . The steering wheel is totally weird though.

Kinja'd!!!

As is the fact it’s (under-) powered by an Escort engine/Transmission.
